It's not a *chord*; it's just notes occuring simultaneously. Err... that will make sense later, once you've read the tutorial.
Others: I detest LM 1.4. It always confuses people -- and worse, it confuses the people who are seriously trying to understand lilypond. People who just jump into the tutorial don't have this problem.
