/Users/gmacon/bin/lilypond is a symlink to /Users/gmacon/My_Applications/LilyPond.app/Contents/Resources/bin. If I invoke lilypond as /Users/gmacon/My_Applications/LilyPond.app/Contents/Resources/bin/lilypond, the command runs successfully. I was unaware that this link would get in the way of the program running correctly, I fixed my path and everything is functioning normally.
