I think I can safely disagree. I haven't never installed Cygwin on the
machine I am testing with and double-click works. In the registry there
are three choices available for right-click: Edit, Generate, and Open.
Generate is the default action which means Generate is what you get by
double-clicking. The is verified by "Generate PDF" being bold and first
in the context menu.

If you uninstalled Cygwin, the (handy) command line is gone. You may
be able to use a DOS box, but I'm not sure if/how that works. The
shortcut is simply the LilyPond icon.
You have seen my answer by now. I did the test to get a log file by
going to the command (DOS) prompt.
You have probably also see the new thread on the user list seeming to
verify that this is a Ghostscript/font problem.
I have also started a thread on the devel forum of autopackage even
though I'm not sure who's doing which part of the packaging.
