Why? It's just a convention -- in use since more thanb hundred years.

This might be an option, of course, but why shall I do something
non-standard? This might add some confusion. As mentioned in another
mail, horn parts which use `modern' notation are either restricted to
non-orchestral music (this is, music not normally played in a symphony
orchestra) or extremely infrequent.
