Saw Han-Wen's note about 2.3.7 so I thought I'd check it out. (I note that 2.3.7 is not listed on the download page yet - grabbed it through manually changing the URL.)
I still build Lilypond manually (SuSE 8.2 with all prereqs customized). SInce I'm one of those who has been stuck in the 2.2 world, I needed to refer to the install doc. Section 1.2.2 of page http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.3/Documentation/topdocs/out-www/INSTALL.html discusses Running Requirements.
