Two more data points: downgrading the hurd package only to our current version: v0.9.git20231217 works, so with new v1.8+git20240406 gnumach. Upgrading the hurd package to the very latest commit 00b1784c3a3d90e1abac40b6c7de3ebbbb05b6a2, also doesn't boot. Do you think it would make sense to bisect between v0.9.git20240714 and latest for a hurd that boots? That would be nice but unless you have some insight here I'll probably biect between v0.9.git20231217 and v0.9.git20240714 (64 commits, probably 5 steps).
