Hi! As the reversion of this patch is the only change from Debian hurd 0.6-1 to 0.6-2 packages, I assume it's a related issue:

Before now switching to the 0.6-2 packages from incoming.debian.org, I've been able to reproduce this with the 0.6-1 packages: both times, it was just a bit after make install, which supposedly causes quite some I/O, so load on libdiskfs etc., so maybe that's why.
