problem is that fakeroot-hurd is a script so adding /usr/bin/env LD_LIBRARY_PATH=... to /my_chroot/DEBs/test_fakeroot-hurd/fakeroot-hurd dh_install -plocales-all does not make things better. I've asked before: how to call the fakeroot-hurd script directly from the commandline? with set -x added to the fakeroot-hurd script: + exec /my_chroot/DEBs/test_fakeroot-hurd/settrans --chroot /my_chroot/DEBs/test_fakeroot-hurd/fakeauth /bin/sh -c cd "$1" || exit ; shift ; exec "$@" dh_install /my_chroot/DEBs/test_fakeroot-hurd/test_ext2fs dh_install -plocales-all -- / /my_chroot/DEBs/test_fakeroot-hurd/fakeroot
