Looks like I was wrong. The freezes still happen for me. This situation is similar to the one before you enabled emacs to be built on buildds again, see: http://lists.debian.org/debian-hurd/2011/01/msg00017.html Can you take the risk of trying to build emacs on a Hurd buildd with the latest binutils (20110606) to check that my lockups are not due to kvm? I now do get lockups with both the buggy and fixed versions of binutils. The latest buildd log is from May 15, 2011, i.e. before the buggy binutils version (20110523) was released.
