a) I'm Zheng Da, and I'm working on Network virtualization. The idea is to
run multiple pfinet servers on the same hurd, connect them (done by a
multiplexer), and meanwhile override the default pfinet server. I created a
multiplexer to dispatch the packet, a filter translator to control the
packet flow. I modified pfinet and boot in order to work with the
multiplexer. I also modified GNU Mach to set the network device into the
promiscuous mode.

b) I'm not sure if it's stand-alone or not. the multiplexer and the filter
translator can be stand-alone, but I modified the existing components of
Hurd, too.

Best,
Zheng Da
