Correct, you can't install GRUB from within a GNU/Hurd system, as GRUB's file access methods have not been ported to the Hurd environment. It's probably no longer worthwhile to do that for GRUB legacy, but definitely it is for the upcoming GRUB2. If someone feels like having a look at that... Regards, Thomas
