Actually, the system is an old desktop (500 MHz, 128
MB RAM). It has VIA IDE controller. I had my hard disk
as primary slave, and detected as /dev/hdb. On bootup
I get primary hard disk fail, but, I press F1 to
continue. I actually have lilo installed to the hard
disk (Knoppix 3.6 installed to hard disk). I am using
this system as a GNU/Linux router.

I shall try the new grub boot images.

Installation was pretty easy (5 minutes using K8
mini-iso CD) on my IBM T41, and that is what I intend
to use for development.

Thanks,

K Shakthi
