Why are there so much spam?!
Because anyone can post to GNU mailing lists without being subscribed (to ease asking questions), and there are no spam filters on the GNU servers. It's expected that subscribers will do filtering on their side (Junk Control in Mozilla *, etc).
BTW Isn't this question for the FAQ? ;-)
