If you would like to clean it up, that would be fine. Will do that when my list of things gets a bit smaller.
This is not really core functionality. It's a bit questionable whether we want this in the Hurd proper. But having it cleaned up enough that it could go in can't hurt. We can wait and see if anyone actually wants it in the tree and think about it then. As you say, it is not core functionallity...
