Hi,

considering that the output of an update below is actually more useful than
the patch message itself ;), I have enabled sending messages on all updates.

If this is too noisy, it's easily switched off.

This patch is unnecessary.  As Roland said in a private email, we cannot make the 
assumption that we can stringify PF_LOCAL.
