Don't forget to apply my patch (http://sources.redhat.com/ml/libc-alpha/2002-03/msg00005.html) if you're going to compile glibc CVS Head. IIRC when I tried "make check" it failed on both libio and stdio, the Head branch and 2.2 branch, but not always at the same tests. I haven't debugged the problems, I just continued with my pthreads stuff.
