There was indeed a bug in the configure script making the choice it advertised it wanted to make. I fixed that so it sets it as the comments with the original libc change say it should be set. However, that setting does not seem to work as it's supposed to. The same problem happens on Linux if you use --enable-oldest-abi=2.2.5; I have not had time to look into it, and have not heard anything from other libc developers.
