Paul, have you made a decision ? Is there someone else you want to hear ?

For me the use case is valid. And I think there are more use cases, like if you
want to send some big file by email and you compress just to send it. You want
to keep to original file and delete the compressed file after you sent the email
probably, not gzip and gunzip it.

Also, the patch is quite simple, non-intrusive, doesn't make maintaining the
code more complicated or anything like that and some users want it. I, honestly,
don't see nothing to lose.

What do you think ?
