Thanks for the fixes.  The "defined" business is a bug in
gnulib so I've forwarded a patch request to there
<http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnulib/2012-07/msg00146.html>.
Before getting too much into the gzip-specific stuff, it seems like there
might be enough material in there that we'll need copyright papers
assigned -- is that something that your employer and you are willing
to do?
