I can report that this issue is no long present as of my latest
update. I switched to KDE for a while and only now tried if the
problem was still present in the current GNOME desktop version, to
find that indeed it has been fixed somehow :-) .
Sorry I don't have more information on the cause of or the solution
to this problem, but it seems ok as of my current guix (commit
ef19fda1a39bf2bb6830942441ed2e20605adf58) so this bug can probably be
closed...

no progress unfortunately. I must say I'm quite far from guix
development nowadays, so all I've really done is run guix pull and
system reconfigure regularly, in hope that some update would fix the
issue ;-)
Would you have any idea where to look?
