On Debian Sid + Guix, I installed weechat in a "guix environment", and could not reproduce the issue (weechat properly starts). However, running "PATH=/usr/bin:$PATH weechat" leads to the same error you witnessed. Could you post you PATH and PYTHONPATH? Cyril.
