[https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/groff/2026-08/msg00012.html Bruno Haible
reported a test failure on Solaris 11 OpenIndiana].

On my Solaris 11 OpenIndiana installation, I see one test failure:

FAIL: src/preproc/eqn/tests/neqn-finds-matching-eqn.sh
======================================================

GNU eqn (groff) version 1.23.0
GNU eqn (groff) version 1.25.0.rc2
FAIL src/preproc/eqn/tests/neqn-finds-matching-eqn.sh (exit status: 1)

The generated 'neqn' script
1) prepends the $(bindir) to $PATH,
2) does a 'exec geqn -T ascii "$@"'.

But I have not done "make install", therefore there is no 'eqn' or 'geqn'
program in $(bindir). Therefore the 'geqn' program that gets invoked is
the one in /usr/bin/, and that is indeed from version 1.23.0.

The Makefile contains a line 'g = g'. Apparently this comes from 'configure'
finding
  checking for existing troff installation... yes
(see m4/groff.m4 macro GROFF_G).

Investigation reveals that this is not a defect in the test script, but in the
`neqn` script itself.
