Summary: [pic] emit diagnostic for unrecognized command modifiers Group: GNU roff Submitter: barx Submitted: Wed 15 Jan 2025 05:27:15 AM CST Category: Preprocessor pic Severity: 1 - Wish Item Group: Warning/Suspicious behaviour Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Planned Release: None _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed 15 Jan 2025 05:27:15 AM CST By: Dave <barx> Bug #61450 points out that numerous troff requests provoke no diagnostic when called with additional unrecognized arguments. Doug McIlroy points out (http://lists.gnu.org/r/groff/2023-06/msg00075.html) that pic is similarly lenient with unrecognized command modifiers. Whether this should change is an open question. Comment 3 in #61450 presents an argument for remaining silent in such situations. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?66666> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
