I can reproduce this crash in _groff_ 1.23.0 but not Git HEAD.
$ groff --version | head -n 1
GNU groff version 1.23.0.2112-4bf3c4
$ echo ".IP 88888888 7" | groff -man -T html > /dev/null && echo "and
everything is going fine"
and everything is going fine
My hypothesis is that this ticket is a duplicate of bug #65894.
I'll need to bisect to be sure. Setting status to "Need Info".
Assigning to self, but if someone else wants to do the bisection and
verify/refute, I'd consider it a kindness.
