...this other thing being one of the parameters to the .fp request. But by the time I filed this in savannah, the terms "internal name" and "external name" had already been erased from groff user documentation by [http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/groff.git/commit/?id=9e52384a1 commit 9e52384a1]. (They may still be used in this context within the code.)
