The .MR man macro originated as an extension in Plan 9 troff in 2020, which
GNU troff then also adopted.  In the time since Branden wrote comment #6,
groff 1.23 has been released, so this macro is now officially available.

I'm not aware of such a page.  The groff 1.23 release notes
(http://lists.gnu.org/r/info-gnu/2023-07/msg00001.html) cover the syntax of
.MR, but this information is buried in the middle of a very long document
describing a release with a huge number of changes.  And the macro is of
course documented in the groff_man(7) man page included with the 1.23 groff
release; this is probably the most definitive place to point people.
