Follow-up Comment #2, bug #64758 (project groff): [comment #1 comment #1:] > [comment #0 original submission:] > > It doesn't seem any worse to feed people an HTTP 404 than a > > node devoid of content. > > Well, a node saying "this page intentionally left blank" at least lets people know they've landed in the right spot. A 404 leaves them wondering.
Yes, but keep in mind the context. The problem here is, what if people linked to a node in the groff 1.22.4 Texinfo manual that didn't have any content in it? That seems unlikely. And working around it by _adding_ a deliberately-empty node to the groff 1.23.0 Texinfo manual seems like a bit of ugliness not warranted by the case at issue. The scenario of greater concern is old links to content-ful nodes that are retained in the new version of the manual, but have new names. *That* seems worth addressing to me. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?64758> _______________________________________________ Message sent via Savannah https://savannah.gnu.org/
