Thanks for your help in this. My original test was in Putty (as you can see in the screenshot)
I checked two other terminals: * Gnome terminal - no issues * Xterm - Same issue as Putty So, it may not be a bug with grep, but it is more widespread than just 1 terminal. I will see if I can report the issue to Putty or xterm.
