GSoC Idea Reimplementation gnulib-tool python

Hi there,
   I am Mayank, a student from BITS-Goa, India. I was interested in
applying for the idea "implementation of gnulib-tool in python". I think I
am pretty good at python and can complete the task. I wanted to know what
other things are required out of me other than applying at the gsoc site
and what all to include in the application. I have git cloned the repo and
am checking out the code.
