Hmm. It's ok to accommodate more general use-cases of the existing code. But I'm not happy 1) about the use of local variables 'xv', 'yv' in a macro that is defined outside of functions, 2) about the use of '#ifdef EQUAL' as a trigger to the storage of some variables in the context. It looks odd, like a misnomer. I'm applying this instead.
