Thanks for checking! Actually, I can reproduce it now. Here's the line it's complaining about: static int (* __attribute__ ((__unused__)) signature_check32) (const char *, int, ...) = gnulib::open; I produced the preprocessed output using this trick: make -C gnulib-tests AM_CXXFLAGS='-dD -E' test-fcntl-h-c++.o here it is, in spite of the odd name:
