Nope.  My daily build machine runs Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and it has automake
1.10.1 so I think bumping the requirement to that level is fine.  Moving
beyond 1.10.1 seems a bit early to me.

Btw, DEPENDENCIES also says autoconf 2.59.  Still ok?  For reference,
8.04 LTS has autoconf 2.61.
