Wouldn't it be simpler, and easier to understand, to just use the version numbers CYGWIN_VERSION_DLL_MAJOR, CYGWIN_VERSION_DLL_MINOR from <cygwin/version.h>? It's in autoconf's spirit to not test version numbers if you can test the feature itself (in this case: some feature of stdio). But testing another unrelated feature? Bruno
