I guess I misunderstood: I assumed that the point was to make the changes obvious. By repeating the changes at the end of the run, it is possible to draw attention to them, even if it doesn't reduce the volume of the output. I suppose that one could provide some kind of progress feedback by printing a "." for each line as it is output. -- Ben Pfaff http://benpfaff.org
