I've hacked up a script which gen's the PS, pulls out the

This works ok but I'm wondering if there's a way to tell ps2pdf to
just set the pdf page size to the pageboundingbox X and Y sizes
defined in PS thus eliminating the need for me to determine these
and feed them to ps2pdf via the command line.
Apparently you have reimplemented the perl script "epstopdf" by
Sebastian Rahtz et al. which does exactly that: extract the bounding
box and create the right size PDF, see
http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/support/epstopdf/
Unfortunately, there is not a more elegant way. Even Adobe's own
Distiller needs to be told the correct page size of the PDF when
converting from PostScript. Incidentally, if you're on a Mac with OS-
X, everything just works out of the box by opening your PS file in
Preview and saving as PDF, or by using the command line program
"pstopdf".
