I'll probably apply my tiny fix, for the record, then merge your patch,
with two tweaks to get past "make syntax-check":
$ make syntax-check
src/expr.c:38:#include "inttostr.h"
src/expr.c:43:#include "verify.h"
maint.mk: the above are already included via system.h
make: *** [sc_system_h_headers] Error 1
