If this sort of thing starts happening more often, I'll consider that. You'd have better luck just searching the mailing list: E.g., try this search http://search.gmane.org/search.php?group=gmane.comp.gnu.core-utils.bugs&query=df+total Pretty good, but the newer matches aren't on the first page, because it's searching "by relevance".
