Hi! I've just installed Ubuntu v7.04 on my computer. The system works
almost
perfectly. Unfortunately I've encountered some problems with the Beryl
module. You see, I can't get the 3D-Desktop effect to work. The only thing
working is the "woobling windows" effekt. However, when I go to terminal
and
write "sudo beryl install" the 3D-effekt suddenly works. But when I close
the window containing the terminal, it stops working. I've managed to
figure
out where the problem is. "dbus" a communication protocol, which handles
the
communication between "user settings" and "root", does not work.
This problem only occurs when I'm logged in as the root system
administrator. In other words, "dbus" is functional to all user except the
admin!
Do you have å solution this problem?
I believe the easiest way is to reinstall the Linux kernel.
I'm not sure where you got that idea (reinstalling the kernel), but
maybe you should look for a dbus mailing list to ask, or an Ubuntu
forum, since your question has nothing whatsoever to do with GNU coreutils.
