Thanks for the bug report. However, it is difficult to follow what you are trying to do. Actually showing the command line you used, what actually happened, and what you expected to happen, on a sample file, would be more useful for us to be able to tell you whether it is really a bug in cut or more likely a misunderstanding on how cut operates. - -- Don't work too hard, make some time for fun as well!
