I guess so. But that's a different issue. Try removing the broken
diff and using the system-standard diff. You can debug diff later.
Ok, confirming that diff is broken; 'make check' passed with
/usr/bin/diff. Looks like I'll be (hopefully) filing a bug against
diffutils.
