The program "ls" cannot be configured to use a special color when listing backup files that start with a hash character (#). A commonly encountered example of such files is backup files produced by Emacs: their names match the glob pattern #*#.
"ls" can be made more usable if backup files could be listed in an understated color (such as grey), because the user usually is not interested in seeing their names when s/he executes "ls". This currently works with Vi's backup files (*~). _______________________________________________ Bug-coreutils mailing list [email protected] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-coreutils
