Sorry, I forgot the 'check' at the end.  Please try this:

cd tests/mv
env VERBOSE=yes make TESTS=no-target-dir check

If this is the case, it can't be solely coreutils's fault; there must
be something wrong with your file system or kernel or whatever.  And
you may not want to try testing this too much, if you keep making
"folders from hell".
