The GNU gettext tools contain a 'hostname' program as well. It supports
-s and --fqdn options. It also supports IPv6 and is portable to Woe32 systems.

GNU gettext needs it for the 'msginit' program and installs it in a private
directory: $prefix/lib/gettext/hostname.

Jim, maybe it would be an idea to merge this program with the 'hostname' from
coreutils. What's your stand on it?
