I've tested development head
(https://sourceware.org/git/?p=binutils-gdb.git;a=log;h=cced7cacecad104fff03e94814a3fca1d304b16f),
and the bug appears to still be present.
Running a git bisect now to see if I can find the offending commit. I wonder if
it is related to the changes in bug 27878...
