Right - I have checked in the patch as it stands at the moment (pr10288.patch.3). I will not close this PR though. I am going to look at the new problems you have raised today and, I hope, create a new PR. It was just annoying to have to keep such a large patch going, especially when it conflicts with PR 10297.
