This is request to binutils to fix -wrap to work properly with all symbol references.
This would be a useful feature but unless you want to implement it yourself I think that it might be quite a long time before somebody decides to have a go at it.
I am sorry to be so pessimistic, but since this is a feature request rather than a bug report I think that it is unlikely to receive any immediate attention. Of course there are companies out there that will happily write this enhancement for you, if you pay them, or it might even make a good job to give to a trainee or intern to give them some experience of the gcc toolchain.
