You can find the set of binaries used in the failed command here: http://vrlab.epfl.ch/~janoc/files/binutils-bug.tar.gz There is a script inside which has the command used to reproduce the problem. The binaries were compiled with GCC 4.0 on Mandrake Cooker, gcc --version says: gcc (GCC) 4.0.0 (4.0.0-3mdk for Mandriva Linux release 2006.0) Copyright (C) 2005 Free Software Foundation, Inc. However I had the same problem with GCC 3.4.x, I do not think that GCC version makes a difference.
