People keep responding because you keep making incorrect statements. You can't "disprove" something that is true. What makes this interesting is the mystery you present, which is *why* you think it's untrue. Maybe it's just me, but I'm at least a little bit interested in figuring out whether you've got a .bashrc file that's setting extglob, or a BASH_ENV environment variable pointing to a file that's setting it, or you're using a Linux distributor's precompiled bash that enabled the extglob compile-time option, or you've built it yourself using a set of patches that includes one that turns it on, or something else altogether.
