Here's the thread I mentioned: https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/help-bash/2024-07/msg00019.html I figured it out. I had to futz with Windows, MSYS, and then git to have the symlinks in the repo actually be real-deal symlinks. I'll email details into the help-bash thread later.
