In bash 4.1.9 under HP-UX 10.20, it consumes all available CPU until
I kill it with SIGKILL. (I suppose there's a chance it might eventually
have died due to malloc errors or whatever, but after several minutes
of waiting, I got impatient.)
Maybe as an additional hint for Chets debugging: In 3.2.39(1)-release it
works, in 4.1.2(1)-release it fails (yes, Bonsai just came back from
paging...). It drives crazy and mallocs like hell... 32bit int overflow?
